This Father’s Day - Awesome Comes in a Box

I was considering a new cologne, a coffee mug or a tie this year for Dad.  But, no longer….

A Valentine’s Day Gift Idea … from Cisco

Ira here and back from assignment - still working the Cisco big news story.  In the meantime, look what I found!  Cisco solves my Valentine’s gift quandry! Whew…just in time!  I can now buy the chocolates after they go on discount.

Am hoping Dianna Huff, Jeremiah Owyang, David Meerman Scott, Brad Reese and Phil Harvey will pass it along and spread the love!

Chambers, again…and, a clue!

I’m starting to tie the clues together.  And, at last, a crack in the investigation.  A few more days to get a jump on this…

Fax Effects

OK, I’m convinced that the Cisco folks are setting up this “launch site” as another ruse. The video they show is a sneak view of some product exteriors and fancy engineering. It’s certainly, nothing like a Cisco product that I’ve seen before. I really thought it was a luxury sedan.
Why is this so hard?  I’m starting to worry that others bloggers will figure this out before me.  Sally will NOT be happy if that happens.

What About Bob?

Here’s what I know so far…

·   People keep sending me links to a pre-launch site. The video is cool. It still seems mysterious to me, though.

·   People who have dodged me (to date):  CFO, VP of Marketing and a VP of   development

·   Some guy named Bob apparently has the answers.

·   I’ve ruled out a station wagon.

I must keep looking.

Call it a Hunch…

When I discovered that the San Jose-based router company, Cisco, had the same name as the company with the big food distribution trucks, I knew right away that something was up.

Call it instinct; call it a hunch; call it investigative journalism, but I’m betting we’ll see this tech giant push further into the transportation biz. I’m still looking for clues.

Check back in

Cisco to Launch a Car?

This is no ordinary story. It calls for some out-of-the-box journalism.  So I went straight to Cisco’s PR dept.

Terry Anderson, vice president of communications, and I had an in-depth tête-à-tête.  She wouldn’t crack, and said none of the other executives would either.  Gotta get to the chairman, John Chambers (again).  And, to a tie store.

I just wish I could find some more clues.

Cisco Interrupted the Mojo

Ok. I just got a call from my editor, Sally Thompkin, and I’m on a time-sensitive Cisco story.  I guess my cover piece for next month, “Innovations in Ballbearings” will just have to wait.

Cisco is working on something big …

Trend Reporting from the Trend-Setter

Ace reporter, Ira Pumfkin of Tech Edge Weekly here, and welcome to my web log, or, as I like to call it – blog (think I’ll copyright that).

“Why blog now, Ira?” you ask.

All of the leading industry experts seem to blog. If Om Malik, Brad Reese, Jeremiah Owyang, and David Meerman Scott  blog, I think it’s time ‘ol Ira I follows some of the best. And, well, my Mom thought it was time - a big thanks to Johnny, my neighbor’s kid, who had the connections to get this set up.
